Finally posting about how much I’m loving my set of Paiste 2002′s! Got the set as a gift toward the end of last year and have been using them more and more ever since!
It’s the John Bonham re-issue set with a 24″ Ride, 18″ Med.Crash, 18″ regular Crash and 15″ Sound Edge Hi Hats!
Can’t say enough about how great they sound live and recorded! The Hats are incredible..great “chick”..nice articulation when tipping and excellent wash when played slightly open with the stick shoulder! And the “shoops”…well lets say this…if you want the Bonham cymbal sound, dont settle for anything else!
The 24″ Ride had me a bit scared before I tried it because I typically use smaller ride cymbals and feared it would “open up” too much. But, no such problem!! Super clean articulation..just pingy enough with just the right sizzle and sustain as well. The bell cuts perfectly through even the loudest music and the wash is sublime!
The crashes are somewhat bright but also buttery with just the perfect attack and decay!
I’m now using the set with both my Johnny Cash tribute band, Big River and my other current original band, BLACK LOVE!
